To be fair the following has absolutely no spiritual merit whatsoever, or at least not on the surface. It might be a matter of pondering the long term affects on ones mental and or emotional state (which in my opinion does affect our perception of spiritual things whether or not it should, I’m a woman what can I say) that repeated exposure to the light spectrum of the environmentally friendly light bulbs AKA cfl’s vs. the light spectrum of incandescent bulbs which government has now passed laws to prohibit the use of beginning in 2012. Can’t help but wonder what’s next now that they have taken it upon themselves to tell me what kind of light bulbs I can use in my own house. Anyway, I am posting this for those who don’t have a clue as to how this came about but mostly for us Texans since thanks to our Governor we have a loop hole. Thank God. Personally this issue has caused me much anxiety due to the fact that I happen to have a lamp fetish of sorts. I love little bitty lamps, the ones that use a night light bulb or in some I use this great 15 wt candelabra bulb. I use them in every room of my house; even the bathrooms have a little lamp. I totally believe lighting has a huge affect on us. Come to think of it Jesus thought light was a big issue considering how many times he references it in scripture. He even refers to us as the light of the world. Maybe this issue is more spiritual than I realized. Anyway here is the low down on the light bulbs you won’t be able to buy before too long.
Back in 2007, Congress got together with their eco-masters early in 2007 to hash out a bill to impose efficiency standards on light bulbs beginning in two phases. Exactly where that power exists in the Constitution is anyone's guess.
The first phase of the bill stipulated that beginning in 2012; incandescent light bulbs rated at under 40-watts or over 150-watts are banned. The second phase to begin in 2020 will require that light bulb manufacturers produce light bulbs that generate a minimum of 45 lumens per watt.
So let's move now to 2011.
A recent bill, HR-91, or more appropriately the Better use of Bulb Act by Rep. Barton from Texas, has been languishing around for a while and hasn't gone anywhere. After much criticism,
Rep. Fred Upton (he is a congressman from Michigan) has finally taken it upon himself to have his committe move this bill forward.
Rep. Fred Upton (he is a congressman from Michigan) has finally taken it upon himself to have his committe move this bill forward.
Introduced in March of this year, four Texas State Representatives introduced HB-2510, exempting the ban on incandescent light bulbs from intrastate commerce. Short summary of the bill: As long as the light bulbs are manufactured and sold within the State of Texas, the federal government ban has no effect.
On June 17th, Texas Governor Rick Perry signed HB-2510 into law. Wohoooo!!!
I'm a bit excited, sorry.
