I am a perfect example of why Jesus had to come to save us. No matter how hard I try I can’t be good enough, neither can I be consistent in my love for God, even though I always think I will. It’s funny how much we think we are OK when we are on the mountain and forget how much grace God has given us. Grace and grace alone is what saved me and what keeps me saved, nothing else. The whole of who I am begins with God it ends with God and is totally and completely sustained by God. We have no idea just how much of nothing we are. The more I realize this the more blessed I am because when I find myself in a place where I feel like I am failing and feel surrounded by darkness I don’t wait until I feel better to come to Him, I just come like I am because there’s nothing in me that can save me in the first place.
We love Him because He first loved us. It is imperative that we never forget that. No matter how spiritual we are or think we are, as humans we are affected by the things around us, sometimes more than at other times. Thank God our righteousness depends on Jesus. If it were possible for us to always be consistent in our love for God and keeping His law, Jesus would not have come in the first place. We must beware lest after beginning with the Spirit we try to maintain our spiritual life by the flesh.
I am crucified with Christ; never the less I live, yet not I but Christ lives in me and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing.
