• God of Peace

There is no question that we are living in perilous times yet I am sure that many said the same thing years ago as fathers and sons were sent to fight wars in other parts of the world just as it is today. Many also believed then as we do now that they were in the last days preceding the return of Christ. It is undeniable that we are closer than ever before as we hear the news day after day in light of prophecies made in scripture as to the signs of His return.
Yesterday as I was putting on my make-up my husband came in with the latest report concerning Israel and a possible attack on a nuclear plant in Iran coupled by speculation of subsequent affects around the world following an attack. I don’t know about you but I don’t think any human can listen to the news these days without facing the temptation to be fearful which is why I am finding it increasingly important to set aside time each day to focus on the greatness and majesty of God. Have you noticed that while there has been an increase in mans ability to report on current events, most of which are not positive and neither are the emotions such reports evoke in us, so also there has been an increase in mans ability through science to discover with greater measure than ever before the vastness of the universe and all that God has created? It makes me smile just thinking about it. That is the love of God for us.

I am not suggesting in any way what Israel should or shouldn’t do or belittling the importance of what is going on. However, I do know that scripture is very clear about the things that must take place before Jesus comes back. Jesus was also very clear about his desire for us to not be fearful but to have peace in Him. However having peace in him means abiding in him by meditating on his word, meditating on his greatness, his power, his majesty and his incredible love for us.

What was so neat to me was even before my husband was filling me in on this latest news I had been listening to my Ipod and while he was talking I was hearing in the background a song by Chris Tomlin called How Great Is Our God, and to which I pointed his attention as he was leaving, and I stood overwhelmed with peace at the greatness of our God and his wonderful love.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
Finally, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things….and the God of peace will be with you.

The splendor of the King, clothed in majesty
    Let all the earth rejoice
    All the earth rejoice
He wraps himself in Light, and darkness tries to hide
    And trembles at His voice
    Trembles at His voice
How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God
    Age to age He stands
And time is in His hands
    Beginning and the end
    Beginning and the end
    The Godhead Three in One
    Father Spirit Son
    The Lion and the Lamb
    The Lion and the Lamb
How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God
    Name above all names
    Worthy of all praise
    My heart will sing
    How great is our God
    Name above all names
    Worthy of all praise
    My heart will sing
    How great is our God
How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God
