• Religion or Relationship?

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?  Shall tribulation, or distress or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? ......Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

One thing I have learned is that there is no end to the things the enemy will use to drive a wedge between us and God, including but not limited to our seeming inability to fix an area of our self or our life that we are certain must be displeasing to Him.  But the condition of the heart is revealed in our desire and intention, not always the outcome of our effort, especially when it involves other people or a circumstance beyond our control.  You see, no matter what, the Cross fills the gap of where we are and where we think we should be spiritually speaking.  The main crux of Christianity is our relationship with God, not even the power  the cross has made available to be all we were created to be, even that is a process.  God never intended for the process to become our god, but if we are not careful a religious spirit will make it so. Religion always focuses on our ability or inability,  relationship always points us to the cross where the blood of Jesus stripped that spirit of its power to separate us from His love, no matter what.

Beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto enternal life.  Jude 20-21
